Stephanie Sterling comes with a diverse background and is strong in research and science. At Atux̂ Forever her role will be our Environmental Stewardship Researcher. We are excited to have you on our team!



Stephanie Sterling worked on a slavery-related project as a Research Assistant at East Carolina University, focusing on transcribing slave deeds from various counties in North Carolina. Her work contributes to the Digital Library on American Slavery's People Not Property Project, which aims to track the movement of enslaved individuals. This involved navigating historical records and databases to document and analyze deeds, plats, and the people involved. Her role reflects a deep engagement with historical research, enriching the understanding of slavery's impact and the lives of those affected.


In addition to her research, Stephanie has a rich background in archaeology, having worked on numerous projects with the National Park Service and other organizations. Her experience includes conducting field surveys, managing archaeological data, and engaging in community collaboration. She has also been involved in maritime archaeology and has presented her findings at various professional conferences, highlighting her dedication to preserving and interpreting historical and cultural heritage.
